December 6 Vigil with NYWC: An Event to Remember & GET ACTIVE!

On December 6th, 1989, 14 women were murdered at Polytechnique Montréal in an act of gender based violence that shook our country. In response, Parliament designated December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Note the name: Day of Remembrance and action, because unless we all take steps to end violence against women, we will be holding memorials forever. So on December 6 this year, come out to North York Women’s Centre’s Remembrance and Action Workshop.

Beginning at 12:30pm ET, the event will start with a memorial, followed by a discussion with members of the smallest steps documentary! Together, we’ll share our activist origins and engage in an interactive discussion on how you can become an activist for change in your own community! The event will end with a guided art workshop by artist Mariana Hernandez where you’ll create your own zendala.
